Paper Prototyping
Well, paper prototyping was quite fun and productive. Mostly, we were finished for much of the time, so I honestly spent most of my time talking. We figured out our game idea, which is good. We were finished quite soon, so it made the process quite easy. I enjoyed it =]
5 New Game Ideas
Idea 1: I believe you could do a fill in the blank game about the technology involved in civics and being a citizen. You would be given a list of words, and questions. The questions will have a blank space where the word goes. You win by filling in all of the blanks.
Idea 2: I believe you could do a word search game about the enngineering involved in making citizenship easier. This could be things between bridges, transportation, or many other things. You basically just circle (or mark through/underline) each word you find. You win by finding all of the words.
Idea 3: I believe you could do a crossword puzzle game about the technology involved in citizenship. This also could use things like bridges, transportation, or many other things. There is a list of questions or statements where there is a word needed. The words go in crossing blank boxes. You win by filling in all of the blank boxes.
Idea 4: I believe you could do an action dodging strategy game (math used in strategy) about a current news event (a good example could be the chilean mining incident that happened earlier this year). You win by beating all the levels.
Idea 5: I believe you could do an adventure game in which you go around convincing people to help you build a bridge. You need help from your fellow citizens. You can go to places like churches, restaraunts, parks, or other public places. You win by completing the bridge in time.

Game Synopsis
I will have my game synopsis up hopefully in my next post. It's saved on my computer and my computer isn't working right now. Either way I'm excited because I think we might have a shot at winning.

Paper Prototyping and All of That Stuff
Well, yesterday we worked on the paper prototyping and finished about 5 slides. There were many things we changed because our first plans didn't really seem to work well, but we still have the same general idea. We know everything we want, we just need to put it on paper now. =]

Planning Our Game, AHH!
This part has been so annoying that it makes me want to scream! It has been so aggravating. For my group I have so many roles its rediculous so I'm not even going to list them. There are only 2 people, so why are there around ten different team roles? Any way, I look forward to after our game is made, because I think we will actually make a very good game. We might even have a chance of winning the entire thing. I think working together has been hard mostly because we aren't even sure how we want to do things, but we've overcame it by just discussing ideas and seeing what seems best. I think this class will work out very well.

My Game Ideas, Son!
My game idea is that we let the player explore the environments of different animalson different continents, then we let them try to place the animals back where they belong. There will be around 3 levels. It is a mix of Puzzle and Adventure. I'm excited about having a chance to win a great prize.

Computer Games on my Free Time
Well, I don't really play computer mini games at home. By computer mini games, I mean the little games you can play on websites that are usually quite short. I don't play them mostly because my computer is way too slow and old to run most things right now. I think they're just for boredom anyway and I'm never bored, so I never play them. I'd much rather be at a friend's house, playing bass, playing chess, or playing a normal videogame. Overall, I don't really like computer mini games.

Research Topic and Me
My name is Ethan, and my research topic is Engineering. I chose engineering because I'm planning to become some kind of engineer when I'm older, either that, or I will be a computer programmer or videogame designer. All of my links are quite relevant to engineering. Some are about engineering in general, some are about civil engineering, some are about software engineering, and others are about computer engineering. Hopefully I can learn as much about engineering as I'm capable of. These links are sure to help me.

Strategy as a Game Genre
I believe strategy would be a great genre, and I have many reasons to support this. I believe strategy games help you learn the most compared to any other genre. Also, it is easy to design a strategy game, if again comparing it to other genres. I honestly just believe that a strategy game would work out the best over all. http://i662.photobucket.com/albums/uu345/xbl-latchet/chessfrenchdefense.jpg (Example of a strategy game)

Internet Safety. Blarg.
I think internet safety is very important. If we don't practice internet safety, we can give away information that can lead to harrassment, loss of money, and many other unwanted things. Maybe if we didn't have so many awful people out there, we wouldn't have to worry about those kinds of things, but thats not the case in this world. Well, I will always practice internet safety to the best of my abilities.

Globaloria is Starting Slowly
Well, I'm loving globaloria so far, but I think its only because we haven't really accomplished anything or worked yet. We've created a few of the things needed, such as profiles and things like that, but nothing has been challenging yet at all. I believe it will start to get quite challenging actually once we actually have everything started and we start getting on pace with everything. So far, this is my third easiest class. I'm sure it will become harder but I hope it will remain not so much of a challenge.

Wikipedia and Such.
The wikipedia editing system is one of the most complicated systems I've ever seen. It contains so many wierd and unusual codes that I am often confused out of my mind. I had even more problems that my teacher wasn't even here on the day I worked on my wikipedia page. I understand the system in a way, but I'm nearly sick of having to search how to do things every time I try to do something. Also, I had to ask my neighbors something on a second to second basis, which starts to get quite annoying for both of our parts. Hopefully I can memorize a few of the codes that I have to use.

School Life
well, i don't know if I'm sick of school or just getting used to it. I'm tired of some classes like social studies classes and science classes. I've always loved english and math, but I've never appreciated the work. The only classes I'm actually interested in is globaloria and Spanish class. I don't think Spanish is interesting, just fun and easy. I'm really interested in globaloria though, because I think I can really learn some very useful things in there. I do appreciate the privelage to go to school, but I don't always have the best time. Also, I'm really tired of having homework every night. Either way, I enjoy school and being with my friends, so I believe I can get used to school over the next few years or so.
